Big Whoose

Yep, that's me I can be a big whoose about some things. For example, I can't eat meat that has a bone and I was unable to get Chickpea's ears pierced. I would walk into the store many times determined to get it done but would turn around once I got to the counter. I just couldn't bear to do it and over the holidays I mentioned it to my sister and mom after they had given Chickpea some nice earrings. It was a task that I needed to get done but didn't have the guts to.

On Saturday, Roxy and my sister were looking after Chickpea so that Paypay and I could take a much needed nap. When we got up, nobody was home and about an hour later they all came strolling in. Chickpea ran to me and I gave her a big hug and kiss and noticed some sparkly flowers on her ears... Load-and-behold they were pierced!!! They took Chickpea to the mall and got the dirty deed done for me and i'm so happy they did!!

Now in 6 weeks I can change them and put the nice ones Chickpea got as gifts over the past year.

Ouap, c'est moi, je suis une pisseuse de certaines choses. Par exemple, je suis incapable de manger de la viande qui a un os et je suis incapable de faire percer les oreilles de Chickpea. J'ai entre dans le magasine plusieurs fois determinee de le faire pour faire demi-tour en arrivant au comptoir. Je n'avais pas le coeur a le faire et je l'ai dis a ma soeur et mere lorsqu'elles ont donne des boucles d'oreilles a Chickpea. C'etait une tache qu'il fallait que je faissent mais je n'avait pas le gout a le faire.

Samedi, Roxy et ma soeur on garde Chickpea pendant que Paypay et moi prenons un petit somme. Lorsqu'on s'est leve tout le monde etait parti et sont revenus environ une heure plus tard. Chickpea a couru vers moi et je lui ai donne un gros calin et bizous, et j'ai remarque qu'il y avait quelque chose qui brillait sur ses oreilles. Je ne pouvais pas croire qu'elles etaitent percees!!! Elles sont alles au centre d'achats et on fait la tache-noir pour moi et j'en suis tres contente!!

Maintenant dans 6 semaines je peux les enlever et mettre les jolies boucles d'oreilles que Chickpea a recu dans l'annee.

Early Morning Wakeup

Last night, we went out for a lovely dinner by the waterfront and had a great time. We got back to Mom's, put Chickpea to bed and the five of us had a nighcap. We all went to sleep around tenish and at exactly twelve-fifteen the fire alarm went off. Oh man! We all woke with a startle and ran into the living room to see where the fire was. Mom opened the door and the hallway was filling up with smoke. Paypay and I ran back to our room, I woke Chickpea up, gave her to Paypay to carry, grabbed my bag and we headed down the three flight of stairs to the car and drove across the street to a safe area. My mom, sister, brother-in-law and niece were right in front of us.

A few minutes later the police and firefighters arrived in force and located the source of the fire. The building dumpster was on fire and within the hour the fire was out and the police and firemen had left. We went back up to Mom's condo and tried to get back to sleep, Chickpea thought she was done for the night and I had a heck of a time to get her back to sleep.

It was a very short night filled, one that I would prefer not to relive anytime soon. Thankfully, it was only the dumpster and nobody was hurt.

Hier soir, nous sommes sortis pour un souper delicieux sur le bord de la mer et avions eu du fun. Nous sommes revenus chez Maman, j'ai mis Chickpea dans son lit et nous cinq avions prit un degestif. Nous sommes tous alle nous coucher vers dix heures et a minuit-quinze l'alarme de feu s'est mis a sonner. Misere! Nous nous sommes reveilles assez vite et avions courus dans le salon pour voir ou etait le feu. Maman a ouvert la porte et le passage commencait a se remplir de fume. Paypay et moi avons courus a la chambre, j'ai reveille Chickpea, je la donne a Paypay pour qu'il la transporte, je remasse mon sac nous voila en courant dans les marches du troisieme etage conduisant au garage et partons en vitesse en auto pour aller de l'autre cote de la rue en securite. Ma mere, soeur, beaux-frere et niece ouvrant le chemin devant nous.

Quelques minutes plus tard la police et les pompiers sont arrives en force et ont trouve la source du feu. Les poubelles etaient en feux et environ une heure plus tard le feu etait eteindu et les policiers et pompiers etaient partis. Nous sommes retournes chez Maman et avions essaye de dormir, Chickpea pensait que sa nuit etait fini et j'ai eu la misere du monde a la faire dormir.

C'etait une nuite tres courte remplie et une que je ne voudrais pas revivre sitot. Heureusement que ce n'etait que les poubelles et que personne ne s'est blesse.

Twinkle, Twinkle

For the past few weeks, as part of Chickpea's bedtime routine we would sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star as she laid cuddled in my arms. It was mostly me doing all the singing and she would sing a few words here and there. But now she can almost sing it all by herself and when Paypay and I try to sing along we get "no singing". I get the hint!!

Last night, Chickpea sang us the song and this is how it ended.....

Chickpea:
"Tinkle, tinkle wittle star
How wonder what you are
Upppa world so high
Like diamond sky

Paypay & Kathou as we hugged and kissed Chickpea:
"yea, good job"

Chickpea after a few moments of reflection:

Needless to say we cracked up laughing so did Chickpea. Now each time she says "are" she starts to laugh.

Ces dernieres semaines, en couchant Chickpea nous chantons une petite berceuse Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star pendant qu'elle est bien entoure de mes bras. C'etait plutot moi qui chantait et elle chantant des mots ici et la. Maintenent elle peut quaisment la chanter tout seule et quand Paypay et moi essaie de chanter avec elle, elle nous dit "pas chanter". Ok, je comprends le message!!

Hier soir, Chickpea chantait la chanson et ca a sortir comme..... (desole pas de traducation francaise)

Il faut dire qu'on a bien rit et Chickpea aussi a bien rit. Maintenant chaque fois qu'elle dit "are" elle rit aux eclats.

Nominated and Elected

Tonight Paypay and I attended the annual Homeowner's Meeting and Roxy babysat for us while we were out.

We arrived at the meeting, signed the registry, greeted the neighbours we knew and met some new ones and took our seats. The meeting began and an hour and a half later we walked out of the conference room with me being the newly elected member of the Board.

I got nominated and elected to a 3-year position as Secretary of the Board. I'm excited about it and am looking forward to the first meeting next month.

Hmmmm I wonder if I have the power to outlaw wearing socks with sandals??? :o)

Ce soir Paypay et moi sommes alles a la rencontre annuelle de notre association des residents de notre quartier et Roxy a garde pendant que nous etions sortis.

Nous sommes arrives a la rencontre, avons signes le registre, salue nos voisins et avons prit nos sieges. La rencontre a commence et une heure et demie plus tard nous avons sortis de la salle et j'etais maintenant rendu un membre du committe.

J'ai ete nomine et elu au poste de Secretaire. Je suis contente du poste et j'ai bien hate a la premiere rencontre le mois prochain.

Hmmmm je me demande si j'ai le pouvoir de mettre hors-la-loi de porter des bas avec des sandales??? :o)

Baseball

Last Thursday we took Roxy to her first professional baseball game, the Mariners vs. the Tigers. It was a great game and the Mariners won 3-2.

Roxy really got into the game, she was all decked out in Mariner gear, ate hot dogs, drank blue slush and cheered our boys on. Paypay and I explained the rules as the game went on and the old Scorekeeper in me was itching to keep track of the plays.

I dislike watching a baseball game on TV because there is no atmosphere but I absolutely enjoy a game in person! I love to sit in a stadium on a hot day filled with cheering people, a cold drink in one hand and a soft pretzel in the other.

Jeudi passe nous avons emene Roxy a sa premiere joute de baseball profesionel, les Mariners contre les Tigers. C'etait une tres bonne game et les Mariners ont gagne 3-2.

Roxy a eu du fun, elle etait habille de la tete au pieds en Mariners, mange des hot dogs, bu de la slush bleue et a encourage nos gars. Paypay et moi avions explique les regles pendant la game et l'ancienne marqueuse en moi voulait tant ecrire les jeux.

Je deteste regarder une joute a la tele car il n'y a pas d'ambiance mais j'adore y aller en personne! J'aime m'assoir dans un stade au soleil chaud entoure de gens plein d'entrain, un breuvage froid dans une main et un pretzel dans l'autre.

Funny enough it was girls night out.... nice timing Paypay!

Return of the Chicken

Years ago one of my first jobs was working for my aunt at the ticket counter for the Junior Hockey Team of our city. I loved working behind the counter and when the game started and sales slowed down we had a good time talking and joking around. I have vivid memories of those times and they were very good.

When Paypay and I started dating, he joined our little group and worked with me and my aunt at the counter in the back of the arena. It was a small two person counter and we hustled our little behind because lots of people came through those doors.

One evening, Paypay and I were waiting to close the counter and there was nobody in the lobby so Paypay started to goof off. He lowered his head and started to make chicken sounds and was flapping his arms. He couldn't see the lobby and just kept going on and on. I was sitting next to him and saw that a lady had walked into the lobby and up to our counter while he was pecking away. I just sat there and didn't say a word.... he! he! he! The lady looked at me and I just shrugged my shoulders and made a coucou sign. The lady and I cracked up at the same time so Paypay lifted his head and when he saw the lady he turned beet-red and left his seat for the safety behind the wall. I have never laughed so hard in my life!

So when Paypay showed Chickpea how to cluck all those memories came back in a flash! I just had to film it and will probably get the evil eye for posting it but I don't care it's too funny to pass up.

Une de mes premieres jobs etait travailler pour ma tante au guichet d'entree pour l'equipe locale Junior Majeure du Quebec. J'adorais travailler au guichet et lorsque la joute commencait et que les ventes ralentissait nous avions du fun a parler et faire des conneries. J'ai beaucoup de beau souvenirs de ce temps.

Quand Paypay et moi avons commencer a sortir ensemble il a joint notre petit equipe et travaillait avec moi et ma tante au comptoir en arriere de l'arena. C'etait une petite salle de deux guichets et nous etions occupes car beaucoup de gens passaient par la.

Un soir, Paypay et moi attendions l'haure de fermer le guichet et il n'y avait personne dans l'entree et Paypay a commence a faire des conneries. Il a baisse sa tete et a commence a faire la poule et faisait aller ses bras en meme temps. Il ne pouvait pas voir l'entree et s'est laisser alle. J'etais assise a cote de lui et j'ai vue une dame entrer et s'approchee du guichet pendant que Paypay continuait a faire la poule. J'ai reste bien tranquille et j'ai fait un signe de coucou. La dame et moi avons bouffe de rire en meme temps et Paypay s'est leve la tete, a vue la dame, a vire rouge-feu et est parti derriere le mur. Je n'ai jamais autant ri dans ma vie!

Quand Paypay a montre a Chickpea comment faire la poule tout s'est souvenirs sont revenus dans un flash! Il fallait que je vous montre ce petit video, j'en connais un qui ne serait pas content mais s'est trop drole pour ne pas partager.

Pike Place & Woodland Zoo

On Sunday, we took the girls to Pike Place Market and had fun mingling with the summer crowds. The local farmers were out in force and all the fruits and veggies looked so yummy!

I have yet to see Chickpea fall asleep in her stroller, no matter how tired she is she won't sleep. I've tried and tried but have failed each time, I guess she loves to shop just as much as I do he! he! So I was floored on Sunday when I walked out of a shop with Rox to find Chickpea fast asleep in her stroller and her dad had a smile from ear-to-ear! Point for Daddy!

On Tuesday we all went to the Woodland Zoo and spent the better part of the day there and had a good time. Rox and Paypay fed the giraffes and most of the animals were out however they were taking it easy due to the hot weather we've been having.

I took Momo to the vet yesterday for some additional tests and I'm happy to say that things are looking positive. The ultra-sound revealed that her internal organs are healthy and the vet couldn't find any tumors, yeah!! It doesn't explain the high amount of protein in her urine but we'll be doing another test later this week to rule out another possible problem. If this test is negative, then all points to her heart condition and i'll need to keep an eye out on her eating and sleeping patterns. I was very afraid of what the vet would find but everything is looking okay, thank goodness!!

Dimanche nous sommes alles au Pike Place Market et avions eu du fun a marcher parmi la foule d'ete. Les fermes locales etaient en nombre et leur fuits et legumes avaient l'air bonnes!

Je n'ai jamais vu Chickpea dormir dans sa poussette, meme fatigue a mort elle ne dort pas dedans. J'ai essaye et essaye mais a echoue a chaque fois, il faut croire qu'elle aime magasnier autant que moi ha! ha! Donc j'etais estomaque lorsque je l'ai vue endormie dans sa pousette en sortant d'un magasin avec Rox. Un point pour Papa!

Mardi nous sommes alles au Zoo de Woodland et avions passe la plupart de la journee a avoir du fun. Rox et Paypay ont nourri les giraffes et quasiment tout les animaux etaient sortis malgre ils etaient tranquilles etant donne que la temperature etait tres chaude.

J'ai apporte Momo chez le vet hier pour des examens supplementaires et je suis contente de vous dire que les choses on l'air positive. L'utra-son a demontre que ses organes vitaux sont en santes et elle ne pouvait pas voir de tumeurs, yea!! Ca n'explique pas pourquoi son taux de protein est eleve dans son urine mais on va faire un autre examen pour voir si ce n'est pas un autre maladie. Si ce examen revient negatif, tout point vers son etat cardiaque et il va falloir que je surveille ses habitues d'alimentation et sommeil. J'avais vraiement peur que le vet trouve quelque chose de negatif mais tout a l'air correcte pour l'instant, youppi!!

Catching Up

Gosh I've got days worth of stuff to write about. Its been a crazy couple of days here in Paypay Land.

I absolutely love summer in the northwest... its a great dry heat and when the sun goes down it cools off so we can comfortably sleep with the windows wide open. There are very few mosquitoes (compared to Que) and you're not flapping your hands around trying to get rid of those pesky little black bugs. Chickpea and I spend as much time as possible outside because it only lasts for a few months then the clouds and rain roll back in.

The T family invited us to spend the 4th of July with them. Roxy and I spent the morning baking cute bug cakes and a shortcake to bring with us. While we were baking Paypay finished painting the body of the house and I'm glad to say its DONE! All that's left is the trim and the front door, yeah!

Dinner was a delicious BBQued chicken and the potato salad was lip-smacking good. Chickpea and Mad had a great time playing together as the parents chatted away. When the sun went down and the girls were asleep, we went outside for the fireworks show courtesy of Paypay, Roxy & M. It was a good show and next year Paypay is allowed to buy more he! he!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon playing in the kiddie pool and soaked up the sun. The L family joined us late in the day for dinner and the kids played on the swing set and swapped turns riding the bike and bus around the yard.

I took Momo in for her yearly checkup and as I suspected her blood work showed that there's a possible problem with her liver. Next Tuesday i'm taking Momo back to the vet so her doctor can take an x-ray and ultrasound of her liver to see what's going on there. Her heart murmur hasn't gotten any worse but since she has begun to cough we put her on some medication to help her blood circulation.

J'ai beaucoup de chose a ecrire car la petite familly Paypay a ete occupe c'est derniers jours.

J'adore l'ete dans le nord-ouest... c'est une chaleur seche et quand le soleil se couche ca devient plus frais et on dors tres bien avec les fenetres ouvert tout-grand. Il y a tres peu de maraguins (compare au QC) et on n'a pas besoin de se faire aller les mains pour eloinger les petites mouches noires. Chickpea et moi passons le plus de temps possible dehors car ca ne dure que quelques mois avant que les nuages et la pluie revient.

La famille T nous a invite a venir passer la fete du 4 juillet avec eux. Roxy et moi avons passe le matin a faire cuire des gateaux en forme de bebittes et avions fait un shortcake. Pendant qu'on cuisinait Paypay a FINI la peinture de la maison! Il ne reste que le trim et la porte d'avant, youppi!

Le souper s'etait un poulet BBQ et la salade de patates etait super bonne. Chickpea et Mad on eu du fun pendant que leurs parent jasaient. Quand le soleil est tombe et que les filles dormaient, nous sommes alles voir le spectacle de feux d'artifices de Paypay, Roxy & M. C'etait tres bien et l'annee prochaine Paypay peut en acheter un peu plus he! he!

Hier nous avons passe la journee a jouer dans la petite barboteuse et avions pris du soleil. La famille L est arrive vers la fin de l'apres-midi pour souper et les enfants ont joue sur le jeux et ont echange leurs tours a rouler avec le bicycle et l'autobus dans la cour.

Je suis aller avec Momo pour sa visite annuelle chez le veternaire et ses resultats sanguines ont confirme ce que je pensais qu'il y a un peut-etre un probleme avec sa foie. Mardi prochain je dois y retourner pour que le medecin puisse prendre un rayon-x et un ultra-son pour voir ce qu'il se passe. Son coeur ne s'est pas rempirer mais etant donne qu'elle a commence une toux elle doit prendre un medicament pour aider sa circulation.

Chuck-e-Cheese

Roxy was anxious to take Chickpea to Chuck-e-Cheese so today after naptime we got in the car and headed out. Before leaving I made sure that I had my trusty camera and plenty of Tylenol in my bag. Roxy talked the whole way to the restaurant/arcade and was really excited about the evening. I kept eyeing my bag and wondered if I should have packed a mickey instead of the Tylenol to ease the pain ha! ha!

We arrived at the restaurant/arcade, exchanged some money for tokens, Chickpea and I went to the toddler area while Paypay and Roxy went to the arcade. About an hour later we ordered pizza and had dinner. Chickpea barely took two bites and was off to play. Roxy ate her share and was off. Paypay was nice enough to stay with me a few minutes until we saw Chickpea's face turn beet-red and yell 'poop' then he made his exit.

We stayed for a few hours and since Roxy had some tokens left I promised that we would come back once more.

I bet you're all looking for the pictures, right??? Well there aren't any because the battery in my camera was dead! And where was the spare one? At home on the kitchen counter! The only picture was taken while Chickpea was on a ride. Yep i'm still kicking myself...

Roxy avait hate d'aller chez Chuck-e-Cheese avec Chickpea donc aujourd'hui apres sa sieste nous sommes alles. Avant de partir j'ai verifie que j'avais ma camera et du Tylenol dans mon sac. Roxy a parle tout le trajet au resto et elle avait vraiement hate d'y aller. Je gardais l'oeil sur mon sac en me demandais si j'aurais du apporter un flasque au lieu du Tylenol ha! ha!

Nous sommes arrives au resto et avions echange de l'argent pour des jetons. Chickpea et moi sommes allees vers la salle pour les enfants et Paypay et Roxy vers les arcades. Une heure plus tard on a commande notre pizza et avions souper. Chickpea a prit deux bouchees et est partie jouer. Roxy a mange son assiette et est partie. Paypay etait assez gentil de rester avec moi quelques minutes jusqu'a qu'on voit le visage de Chickpea vire rouge-feu et dire a haut-voix 'caca' il est parti a se moment la.

Nous avons reste quelques heures et etant donne que Roxy lui restait des jetons, j'ai promi de revenir une autre fois.

Je gage que vous cherchez les photos, n'est-ce-pas??? Eh bien il n'y en a pas car la batterie de ma camera etait morte! Ma deuxieme batterie etait ou? Chez nous sur le comptoir de la cuisine! La seule photo a ete prise lorsque Chickpea etait sur un des maneges. Youap je m'en veux encore!

Daddy and Daughter

Paypay and Chickpea had their first 'Daddy and Daughter' outing on Sunday, they went to see Elmo Makes Music. After nap all four of us got in the car and headed to Everett, Paypay dropped Roxy and I for some shopping and they continued north to the Center.

Roxy and I spent the afternoon shopping and had a great time roaming through all the stores. Yep, that's my niece. . . another trotteuse in the making!

As for Paypay and Chickpea I didn't know what to expect. I knew they would have a good time but didn't know if Chickpea would last through the 1 1/2 hour show. Well I was very wrong! They had a great time and Chickpea danced the whole way through and was repeating the letters being shown on the big screen. At the beginning of the show Chickpea was sitting on her seat swinging her legs to the beat, had a grin from ear-to-ear and clapped at the end of each song. A couple of songs later, Paypay got her off her seat and let her dance to the beat as she held his hands and the smile never faded.....

Later that evening Paypay told me that there was only one word that summarized the day for him 'priceless'.

Paypay et Chickpea ont eu leur premiere sortie en tant que 'Pere et Fille' dimanche passe, ils sont alles voir Elmo Makes Music. Apres sa sieste nous avons embarque dans la voiture en route vers Everett. Paypay a debarquer Roxy et moi au centre d'achats pour un apres-midi de shopping et ils ont continuer vers le centre.

Roxy et moi avions passe l'apres-midi a magasiner et avions eu du fun a faire tout les magasins. Youap, c'est ma niece. . . une autre trotteuse en formation!

Je ne savais pas quoi m'attendre pour Paypay et Chickpea. Je savais qu'ils auraient du fun mais je doutais que Chickpea reste pour tout le spectacle de 1 heure et demi. Et j'avais tort! Ils ont eu beaucoup de fun et Chickpea a danse tout le temps et repetais les lettres quand ils apparasait au ecran geant. Au debut Chickpea etait assise sur sa chaise et faisait aller ses jambres, avait un sourire fendu aux oreilles et frappait des mains apres chaque chanson. Quelques chansons plus tard Paypay l'a debarque de sa chaise et elle dansait en tenant ses mains et son sourire n'est jamais partie.....

Plus tard dans la veillee Paypay m'a dit qu'il y avait un mot pour decrire sa journee 'precieux'.
