Sneaking Off

A few days ago I could hear Chickpea laughing in our bedroom. Usually the door is closed and locked but for whatever reason it was left opened and this is the scene I found when I walked in.

Il y a quelques jours j'entendais Chickpea rire dans notre chambre. Normalement la porte est fermee et verouillee mais pas cette fois et voici la scene que j'ai rencontree.

Some of the funniest things that Chickpea does is with food.... at dinner tonight she asked her dad for some more milk and the funny guy he is he gave her the gallon. Chickpea had a good time trying to serve herself and made us laugh.

Les choses les plus droles que Chickpea fait c'est avec du manger.... au diner ce soir elle a demande a son papa du lait et drole comme il est il lui a donne le gallon au complet. Chickpea a eu du fun a essayer de se server et nous a fait rire.

First Live Play

The Seattle Children's Festival is in full swing this weekend and part of the activities is a production company from Quebec named Le Theatre de Quartier. They created a play specifically for toddlers called Glouglou and two of their performances were in french.

I was intrigued and thought it would be fun for Chickpea and I to attend. I bought two tickets to the french show and we had a great time. The venue was small and very intimate. The children and adults sat on the floor around the ground stage and the play lasted about 50 minutes. Chickpea sat in my lap the entire time and didn't budge, her eyes were fixed on what was going on and laughed when it was funny. At the very end when the actors were taking their bows, Chickpea said loud enough so that everyone could hear her proclaim with a wave of her hands "All Done, Bye-Bye". Everyone turned towards us and laughed, it was hilarious!

Le festivale des enfants de Seattle est en fin de semaine et une de leurs activities est une maison de production du Quebec qui s'appele Le Theatre de Quartier. Ils ont cree un spectacle pour les jeunes enfants Glouglou et deux de leurs representations sont en francais.

J'etais intriguee et j'ai pensee que ce sera une belle sortie pour Chickpea et moi. J'ai achete deux billets pour une des representations en francais et on a eu du bon temps. C'etait petit et tres intime. Les enfants et parents etaient assis par terre autour de la scene et la piece a duree environ 50 minutes. Chickpea etait assise sur moi tout le temps et n'a pas bougee, ses yeux etaient fixees sur la scene et a ris quand c'etait drole. A la toute fin, pendant que les comediens faisaient leurs saluts, Chickpea a dit assez fort pour que tout le monde entendent avec un signe de la main "All Done, Bye-Bye". Tout le monde s'est vire vers nous et riant, c'est tres drole!

Thoughts About Mother's Day

I have to admit that I didn't know what to expect for Mother's Day. This was my first one and I asked Paypay not to make a big deal about it because it used to be the one day that I tried to hide from during the year.

It ended up being exactly what I had wanted which was to spend time with my girl and hubby. We had breakfast at the corner restaurant then a lovely dinner on the waterfront.

As I was enjoying the day I couldn't help but think about all the women out there praying for a pregnancy or waiting for 'the call' from their adoption agency. That was me and I lived that hell for 10 years and my best advice to those women is to hang in there because it will happen on the day you least expect it.

Il faut que j'admets que je ne savais pas a quoi m'attendre pour la Fete des Meres. C'etait ma premiere et j'ai demande a Paypay de ne pas en faire une grosse affaire car c'etait aussi la la seule journee dans l'annee que j'essayait de cacher de.

La journee a ete ce que je voulais qui etait de passe du temps avec ma fille et mon mari. Nous avons dejeuner au resto du coin ensuite un bon souper au bord de l'eau.

Pendant la journee je ne pouvais pas m'empecher de penser aux femmes qui esperent une grossese ou bien qui attendent 'le coup de telephone' de leur agence d'adoption. C'etait moi et j'ai vecue cet enfer pendant 10 ans et la seule chose que je veux leur dire c'est gardez la foie car ca va arriver le jour que tu y attends le moins.

Mother's Day

. . . I wake up to one of my favorite sounds which is my little girl talking and laughing in the monitor. I turn over to a smiling Paypay and a "Happy Mother's Day". Beautiful way to start a day that used to be a big torn in my side for way too many years.

I'm writing this post at the kitchen table using Paypay's laptop with my girl snuggled up-close to me, typing with one finger and frankly couldn't be any happier.

. . . je me suis reveillee a un son que j'adore celui de ma fille qui jase et rit dans le moniteur. Je me tourne et vois un Paypay souriant avec un "Bonne Fete des Mamans". Belle facon de commencer une journee qui a ete pendant trop longtemps une source d'irritation constante.

J'ecris ce blogue assise a ma table dans la cuisine en utilisant le portable a Paypay avec ma fille serre contre moi, tapant avec un doigt et franchement ne pourrait pas etre plus heureuse que ca.

A week down the tubes.... :o(

Well our week started off great with our trip to the zoo. I was all pepped up and had quite a few things planned for Chickpea and I this week. But did any of those things happen? A big fat NO!

My throat started to hurt really bad on Tuesday evening, thinking it was a cold coming on I took some Tylenol, hot bath and went to bed early. Wednesday morning rolls around I get up after a sleepness night and feel my throat. Holy moly!! It feels like I have a golf ball on each side and I can hardly swallow because it hurts so much.

On Thursday, I wake up feeling worse and the golf balls are very much still there and even more painful.... Paypay calls my doctor and two hours later she looking down my throat and says "That looks very painful.". She does a quick Strep-Throat tests and its turns out to be negative. Now she's telling me it might be Mono and we need to do a throat culture... mono??... hormonal teenagers get mono not me?!?!?!

So we're getting ready for the test, her aide knocks on the door and says the call she was waiting for is holding. She asked me if its okay for her to step out and take the call, I say yes because i'm still in shock from the word Mono and I need a minute to recompose myself. Five minutes later she comes back in and by chance she glances at the strep-throat test and wouldn't you know it... its now positive! So the 2 minute test needed at least 20 minutes, you've got to love science!

Et bien notre semaine a bien commence avec notre journee au zoo. J'etais tout enervee et j'avais planifie quelques activites pour Chickpea et moi a faire cette semaine. Mais est-ce qu'on en a fait des ces activites? Un gros NON!

Mardi soir ma gorge commencait a me faire mal et je pensais que c'etait un autre rhume donc j'ai pris du Tylenol, un bain chaud et je me suis couchee tot. Mercredi matin arrive et je me leve apres une nuit sans sommeil et je touche a ma gorge. Ma foie!! On dirait que j'avais une balle de golfe chaque cote et j'avais de la misere a avaler tellement que ca faisait mal.

Je me leve le jeudi matin et me sentais encore pire que la journee d'avant et les balles de golfe sont encore la et font encore plus mal.... Paypay appele mon medecin et deux heures plus tard elle regarde ma gorge et me dit "Ca a l'air douloureux.". Elle fait un examen rapide pour Strep-throat (desolee trouve pas la traduction francaise) qui est negatif. La, elle me dit que ca pourrait etre une Mono et on doit prendre une culture de ma gorge... mono??... seulement des ados hormonales poigne la mono pas moi?!?!?!

Elle s'aprete a prendre la culture et son aide cogne a la porte et lui dit que l'appele qu'elle attendait etait sur garde. Elle me demande si elle pouvait me laisser quelque minutes pour prendre cet appel. Je lui dit oui car j'etais encore sous le shock du mot Mono et j'avais besoin d'une minute pour reflechir un peu. Cinq minutes plus tard elle revient et par chance elle regarde l'examen pour le strep-throat et croyez le ou pas il est maintenant positive! Donc l'examen qui prends 2 minutes a eu besoin de 20 minutes, que j'aime la science!!

Fun at the Zoo

What a great way to start the week.... my good friend Kat calls early in the morning to invite Chickpea and I to the Woodland Zoo. It's supposed to be a nice morning, although it was cloudy at our place, anyhew of course I said Yes, got Chickpea ready to go and hit the road.

Once there, the sky was blue and the sun was out in force. It's one of those amazing Northwest mornings that unless you're working you don't stay inside, you get your behind outside and enjoy it. I even got a few freckles on my nose from it :o)

We walked the grounds, fed a giraffe, saw the baby tiger (very cute!) among alot of other animals and for the first time Chickpea rode a Merry-Go-Round. She was afraid of the big horses so Mad sat with her in one of the carriages and they held hands.

We each had packed a lunch and settled in the park and ate. Chickpea wasn't intereseted in her sandwich so she ate her apple sauce, yogurt, cheese and of course some Cheerios. Then she and Mad were off running around and having a good old time.

After one last attempt to see the zebras, it was time to get the girls home for their naps. We said our goodbyes and less then two minutes after pulling onto I-5 Chickpea was fast asleep and once home she slept until 4:30.

Quelle belle facon de commencer une semaine.... ma bonne amie Kat m'a telephoner tot le matin pour inviter Chickpea et moi au Woodland Zoo. Il est suppose faire tres beau malgre c'etait nuageux chez nous, en tout case c'est sure je dis Oui, habille la petite et prenons la route.

Lorsque nous sommes arrivees, le ciel etait bleu et le soleil brillait avec toute sa force. C'etait une de ces merveilleux matins du nordouest que tu sors ton peteu dehors pour en profiter a moins que tu travailles.

Nous avons fait le tour, a nourrit une girafe, vu un bebe tigre (adorable!) parmi plusieurs animaux et pour la premiere fois Chickpea a embarque sur un manege a chevaux. Elle avait peur des gros chevaux donc Mad s'est assise avec elle dans un des attelages a chevaux et elles se sont tenus les mains.

Nous avions faits des pique-niques donc on s'est assises dans le parc et avions mange. Chickpea n'etait pas interesse par sa sandwich mais elle a mange sa puree de pommes, yaourt, fromage et evidememnt des cheerios. Apres elle et Mad sont allees courir et ont eues un temps de fou.

Apres une derniere tentative de voir les zebres, il etait temps de retourner chez nous pour la sieste de l'apres-midi des filles. Nous nous sommes dites au revoir et moins de deux minutes apres avoir embarquer sur l'autoroute Chickpea dormait meme qu'elle a dormie jusqu'a 4:30.

Mmmmmm.....

Odds and Ends

A couple of things going on in our little world....

1 - Chickpea graduated from the Waddlers class to the Gymsters class which begin this coming Friday.

2 - Paypay and JR (my brother) began building the shed over the weekend and it's progressing well. We have four walls and a roof. The door, window, siding and cedar shake go on in the next few days.

3 - Momo is not feeling well these days and i'm getting worried about her. I'm going to call her vet tomorrow to schedule a checkup. We've been so busy these past few weeks that we haven't given her the normal amount of attention we usually do.... i'm hoping that's the problem.

4 - As for me, well i'm keeping the men fed/hydrated while they're hard at work and taking care of Chickpea and Momo.

Quelques petites choses qui se passent dans notre vie....

1 - Chickpea a graduee de la classe Waddlers a celui des Gymsters qui commence ce vendredi.

2 - Paypay et JR (mon frere) a commence la remise en fin de semaine et ils avancent assez vite. La porte, fenetre, recouvrement et bardeaux s'installe dans quelque jours.

3 - Momo ne se sens pas bien depuis quelque temps et je commence a m'en inqueter. Je vais telephoner a son veterinaire cette semaine pour prendre un rendez-vous. Nous sommes tellement occupes depuis les dernieres semaines qu'on n'a pas donne autant d'attention a Momo que d'habitude. J'espere que c'est le probleme.

4 - Moi, je tiens les hommes nourrit/hydrate pendant qu'ils travellent fort et je m'occupe de Chickpea et Momo.

Drats . . . I Missed It ! ! !

I wish kids would be able to say "Watch me i'm going to do something for the first time now."

This morning as I was catching up on email and getting some work done from my usual perch in the kitchen. I could see the blond top of Chickpea's head playing with her toys in the family room. So it was just another morning getting started in the Paypay household or so I thought. . . I see Chickpea heading to get her popcorn thingy no big deal, she does it every morning. I hear the 'pop, pop, pop, pop' coming towards me and I look up to say something but my mouth just hung open what I hadn't noticed was that she was in her diaper! She's off towards the front of the house and I reach for the camera. We both had a good laugh and I went looking for the pjs which were lying in a heap in front of her toys. I had a heck of a time trying to get them back on her.

J'aimerais que les enfants soient capable de nous dire "Regarde moi, je vais faire quelque chose pour la premiere fois."

Ce matin j'etais en train de lire mes courriels et travaillait de ma place habituelle dans la cuisine. Je pouvais voir la petite tete blonde qui jouait avec ses jouets dans le salon. Donc c'etait un matin comme les autres dans la famille Paypay bien c'est ce que je croyais. . . je vois Chickpea s'approcher de sa machine a popcorn qui est normal car elle le fait a tout les matins. J'entends le 'pop, pop, pop, pop' qui s'approche de moi et je me leve la tete pour dire quelque chose mais ma bouche reste ouverte sans rien dire. Ce que je n'avais par remarque c'etait que Chickpea etait seulement dans sa couche. La voila partie pour en avant de la maison et je prends la camera pour prendre des photos. Nous avions rit beaucoup et je suis partie a la recherche des pyjamas qui etait par terre devant ses jouets. Ca a tout prit pour lui remettre.

Two Peas in a Pod. . .

Paypay and I love dalmatians, always have and always will. Momo is our second one and most likely not the last although once she's in doggy heaven we're going to stay dogless for a bit. Unless I give into a puppy temptation again and yes, I have problems saying 'No' to an adorable puppy.

So it was only appropriate that Chickpea's first raincoat be one. . .

Paypay et moi avions toujours aime les dalmatians. Momo est notre deuxieme et surement pas la derniere malgre lorsqu'elle va etre au ciel nous allons rester sans pitou pour un petit bout de temps. A moins que je me laisse tenter par un autre chiot car j'ai de la misere a dire 'Non' a un chiot adorable.

Donc c'etait tres normal que le premier manteau de pluie a Chickpea en soit un. . .
