Santa and the X-Mas Tree

We took Chickpea to meet Santa for the first time on Tuesday. After waiting in line with the other children, Chickpea strolled up to Santa and I helped her onto his lap. Chickpea took it all in stride and smiled for the camera without the help of Cheerios, hurray! Seeing Chickpea sitting there looking adorable and grinning from ear to ear, I couldn't help but wipe the small tear that came. We get the pictures next week and I'll post them once they arrive.

After Chickpea went to bed last night, I put up our christmas tree and carefully put the pretty glass ornaments up high and left the unbreakeables ones down low. When she got up this morning, I was waiting with camera in hand for her to discover the tree in the front living room. She looked at me, pointed to the tree, said 'wow' and then proceeded to remove and give me all the ornaments from the tree. This little game went on for most of the morning and now our tree is now pretty much bare in the lower 3 feet.

As most of you know, Chickpea mimics everything she sees or hears so we're being very careful about what we say and do. This morning while Chickpea was eating breakfast, I was sitting next to her at the table having my morning coffee and reading an article in the newspaper. I glanced up to look at her and there she was sitting exactly like me, head resting on hand. I was not expecting that and it cracked me up.

Mardi passe, nous avons amene Chickpea voir le Pere-Noel pour la premiere fois. Apres avoir attendu en ligne avec les autres enfants, Chickpea s'est avance vers le Pere-Noel et je lui ai aide a s'assoire sure ses genoux. Chickpea a fait ca comme une grande et a sourie pour la camera sans l'aide des fameux Cheerios, youpie! En voyant Chickpea la, adorable et avec un beau sourire, je ne pouvais pas m'empecher d'essuyer la petite larme qui s'est faufilee. Nous devrons recevoir les photos la semaine prochaine et des que je les recois je vais les afficher.

Apres que Chickpea s'est couche hier soir, j'ai monte notre arbre de noel en faisant bien attention de mettre les decorations fragiles en haut et les autres en bas. Quand elle s'est levee ce matin, j'etais prete avec ma camera en main en attendant qu'elle voit l'arbre dans le salon en avant. Elle m'a regardee, a montre l'arbre avec son doigt, a dit 'wow' et a commencer a enlever et me donner tout les decorations. Ce jeux a dure quasiment tout l'avant-midi et maintenant il ne reste plus grand chose sur notre arbre en bas de trois pieds.

Comme la plupart d'entre vous savez, Chickpea mimique tout ce qu'elle voit donc on fait tres attention a ce qu'on fait et dit. Ce matin pendant que Chickpea mangait son dejeuner, j'etais assise a cote d'elle en train de lire le journal et a prendre mon cafe. Je lui ai regarde du coin d'oeil et la voila qui etait assise pareille comme moi, la tete dans la main. Je ne m'attendais pas a ca du tout et je l'ai bien rit.
