I've heard for years that new parents go through a stage of 'losing their brains'. Since at the time I didn't have any children I couldn't really relate to what those people were saying but not anymore. I now have proof that we do in fact lose our brains once in a while.
Last Sunday, we were trying to get out of the house to meet some friends for an outdoor playdate and were running a little behind. Chickpea chose to wait for the three of us to be fully dressed and ready to walk out the door to make a massive contribution in her diaper! Oh man! Off comes the coat, the shoes, the pants, the tights, the onesis sweater and finally the onesis undershirt. Clean her up, put all those layers back on and throw out the amazingly full diaper. Chickpea and Kathou were ready to go..... But where's Paypay?
Meanwhile, Paypay, decided to do poop patrol in the backyard and had changed his shoes into his old tennis sneakers. I asked him to finish quickly and meet us in the car because now we were very late. A few minutes later out comes Paypay and we're finally off.
We had a very nice time we hadn't seen these friends for awhile and it was great to catch up with them. Once we got home and chickpea was down for the night, Paypay called me to the front door and asked if I noticed anything wrong with the shoes he wore that night. I glanced down at them and couldn't help myself and laughed until tears were rolling down my cheeks. Can you see why?
